Real Madrid continues to make history in the Spanish Liga. After defeating Malaga in the Santiago Bernabeu (6-2), the Whites surpassed the 5,500 goal mark with Luka Modric’s strike to become the first side in national championship’s 82-year history to hit this record.
Real Madrid has racked up the most wins (1,532) and points (4,018) in the history of the 1st Division, in addition to netting the most times, to convert itself into the first club to surpassed the 5,500 goal mark (5,501) in 2,607 matches played in the division’s 82 year history (without ever missing a season). The Whites top the list ahead of teams like Barcelona (5,452) and Athletic (4,406).

Real Madrid has scored 95 goals this season, one of the squad’s highest scoring numbers in its history with three fixtures left before closing out the season. This number has only been exceeded in 1989/1990 (107 goals), 2009/2010 (102 goals) and in 2010/11, when the Whites’ 121 goals broke the record for the most goals netted in any 1st Division season.
